Become a Coach

The below is a step-by-step instruction on what is required to become a coach with Harrison Community Basketball (“HCB”).   Please follow the steps and complete all required items.  Please note that HCB is our community organization and our organization participates in the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League (“CPYBL”) and these are two separate entities.  Thank you for your interest in helping grow the game of basketball in our community.

  1. HCB REGISTRATION
    1. Go to www.harrisonbasketball.org
    2. Under Coaches Corner, click Coach Registration
    3. Complete the registration
      1. This registers you as a coach within HCB only
      2. If you have any questions, send them to Harrison.basketball@yahoo.com
    4. Under Coaches Corner, click Coach Conduct
      1. Read all of the items and agree
  2. CONCUSSION TRAINING
    1. Go to https://nfhslearn.com/courses/concussion-in-sports-2or use the link under Coaches Corner > Coach Requirements
      1. If you have completed this training in the last 2 years, please skip to the last sub-step and email your certificate to Harrison.basketball@yahoo.com
      2. Select your state, Ohio, from the dropdown and click Order Course
      3. You will be taken to a NFHS login page
        1. If you do not already have a NFHS account, click Register
      4. Once registered and logged in to the NFHS site repeat step 2.1.2
      5. Choose Myself and click Continue
      6. Click Checkout
      7. Check the “I agree” box and click Continue
      8. Click Go To My Courses
      9. Click Begin Course
      10. Complete the course
        1. This will take about 30 minutes
      11. Download your certificate
      12. Email your certificate to Harrison.basketball@yahoo.com
  3. LINDSAY’S LAW
    1. Go to https://odh.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odh/know-our-programs/Lindsays-Law/Lindsays-Law
    2. Scroll near the bottom of the page, under “For coaches”
    3. Click on Required Video
    4. After watching the video, click on Required SCA Informational Handout
    5. Click Download
    6. Read through the document
    7. Refer parents to WAIVER FORMS LINK and have them click on the Lindsay’s Law link to complete the Lindsay’s Law form
      1. Parents will need to print it, and return it to you
      2. If easier, you can also print these out for your parents and have them fill out at your first practice
    8. Keep the forms on-hand during all activities
  4. CPYBL REGISTRATION (not required for K/1)
    1. Go to www.cpybl.com
    2. Click Login or Register at the top, left of the page
    3. HCB will inform you when coach information has been shared with CPYBL
      1. At that time, if you have a CPYBL account already, CPYBL will update your account to be a coach account
      2. If you have not registered by then, make sure to register and CPYBL will add you as a coach
      3. Click Coaches Page
        1. From the Coaches Page you will be able to see your schedule when it is posted
        2. From the Coaches Page you will be able to see your roster and the waiver status of each player
          1. If a player has not completed the waiver, you must have the parent(s) complete the waiver
          2. If there are issues/discrepancies, please email Harrison.basketball@yahoo.com for assistance
  5. ATTEND THE COACHES MEETING
    1. Date/Time TBD and will be emailed to all registered coaches
